Off the Shoulder

Showing off your shoulders is the new cleavage. Tops and dresses of all kinds are showing up and showing off our décolletés. Highlighting your shoulders is the perfect trend for the beginning of spring.

I enjoy wearing this style with long or bell sleeves. Totally bare arms and a bare neckline would be too much. For a simple black long sleeve shirt, I pair it with a high waisted skirt and matching black boots. A simple necklace would work great with this outfit as well, one that hits just below the collarbone. This outfit shows off the trend while still being understated. You can also look for this trend in dresses. For a more formal look, look for a longer hemline. The cut will put just the straight across neckline on display. This look will make you appear taller and streamlined. Who knew giving the cold shoulder could be so hot?

My go-to pick for this trend? This burnt orange crop top. The color is rich and unique, it will be the perfect pick me up in a sea of pinks. The voluminous shape makes it easy to wear even though it is cropped. I love styling it with high waisted white denim and nude heels. These choices make that gorgeous color stand out so much more.

Before you brush off this trend, keep in mind it’s staying power. Right now we are seeing more structured items that fit closer to the body. However, come late spring and summer; flowy & ethereal off-the shoulder dresses and blouses are going to be the hot ticket item. You will have to put up with sometimes having to re-position the sleeves. They just love to slide down, potentially causing a wardrobe malfunction. It is worth it though, this style will add just the slight sex appeal your closet needs.

I wear this style so much, I cannot say enough about it. If you do not know where to start, I say simple. A black, sleeved, slim fitting  top will go with everything you already own and will keep you current. I promise you, nailing this trend will be a weight off your shoulders!
