My Sephora Play arrived for the month, quite early this time. Just a couple of days before it arrived, I officially made the decision to cancel this subscription. I just wasn’t feeling it anymore. The products didn’t truly excite me and weren’t getting used as much as they should have been. That being said, I am still enthusicastic to see what I got this time around.
Show me the goods:
ORIGINS Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores
Masking has been a huge hobby of mine lately. You get to treat yourself to a mini spa day and make your skin look better at the same time! This is a healthy sample size and will allow for several applications. This mask is made of charcoal which is ideal for sucking out all the gross stuff that clogs our pores. This item should be applied to the skin in areas where pore issues are apparent. such as the cheeks and nose. Origins is a great skin care brand and this specific type of product is something I don’t have in my collection right now. Excited to put this to the test.
Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum
This box did a very good job with the skin care they provided. I love serums and this one has more of a moisturizer feel making it even more hydrating. It is thin but not quite as liquid-y as other serums. I enjoyed applying this to my face and my skin seemed to love it as well. It absorbs quickly which is great for applying it in the AM under makeup. Since you use so little at a time, this sample should last a while. I have tried the moisturizer from this Vinosource collection in the past and adored that as well. My skin needs constant hydration to combat dry patches and this certainly helps with that. This serum is my favorite item from the bag!
SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Perfect Nude
I know I put this as a hit, because I don’t think it is a bad product to receive, but I am not overly excited by it either. Lip glosses are just not my favorite. I am trying to be converted because I am getting sick of matte lips especially in the winter, but haven’t been 100% swayed yet. This item is a lovely shade, a nude that would work on its own or accompany a lipstick beautifully. It actually has more pigment than several other glosses I have tried. This will most likely get some use, but it is not a life changing product to receive. I have tried other makeup products from the Sephora in-house brand and loved them, so maybe this will be the gloss that changes my mindset after all.
Moroccan Oil Treatment
Sadly, this product arrived to me damaged (another pro in the canceling this subscription column). It had leaked and I lost about half the bottle, which is a bummer. I cleaned it up and was able to salvage the rest thankfully. I actually love this product and have used it many times in the past. It is a great oil for my dry damaged hair. It is thicker than other products of its kind which makes it all the more hydrating. This item also has a very pleasant scent (it’s the little things in life, right?). A little of this goes a very long way so make sure not to use too much to prevent looking like a grease ball. The remaining oil in this bottle will suffice and definitely get used up.
MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
I will say that I was very excited to get a Marc Jacobs product, which is an amazing high end brand. Mascaras are only a miss for me because I have eyelash extensions. I’m sure this product is lovely and I would have been elated to have received it if circumstances were different.
Overall, this bag reiterated all the reasons why I cancelled this subscription. It was by no means a horrible month, it never is, it just bored me. I want to get excited when I open my mailbox and see a beauty subscription peeking out and with this box that never happened. What do you think about Sephora Play? Are you going to miss these reviews? Did I make a mistake canceling?
