I was very excited to see that my Sephora Play box had arrived today. I have been using the products I received last month on a daily basis. The only thing I heard about this month’s box was it was going to be centered around “lip items.” This makes sense for the month of February, which hopefully brought us all lots of kisses.

Let’s see what I received:

NARS Velvet Lip Glide

I was very excited to have gotten this. I believe everybody received one of these in their bags. I was under the impression this would be a matte liquid lipstick, which are everywhere right now. However, it goes on more like a cream lipstick. The color”Bound,” is a dusty rose shade. I can picture myself wearing this everyday, it is a “your lips but better” type of shade. I love NARS and I think it is incredible to receive a high-end brand in a ten dollar subscription.

Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy

This stuff is fun, but not for the faint of heart. I actually have one of these lip plumping lip glosses already. I received the shade “Milkshake” a pale creamy nude color. It does make the lips look more plump and fills in the lines in my lips. This product does sting and burn, but it doesn’t last forever. The shade is a bit pale on me, but over a lipstick I could  see myself rocking this. This is the type of product I will usually swipe on while I am getting ready, to receive the plumping benefits, then wipe off the excess and apply my lipcolor. The only thing I do not understand, why must it smell like licorice?!

Origins GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream

I was happy to receive an eye cream. I don’t usually get eye creams in these subscriptions, so this was refreshing, no pun intended. I have only tried a few things from Origins, so I am excited to test this out. It is never too early to start focusing on skincare. The skin around your eyes is extremely delicate so it is vital to nurture the area. This one in particular has ingredients like coffee and ginseng which will perk up the skin and make you seem more awake (AKA help with dark circles, which we could all use). This will be a great thing to try in the morning.

Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer

Okay, another moisturizer. Usually I would be upset, considering I receive a moisturizer sample in just about every Sephora play bag. However, this one is a little different. It claims to blur imperfections and it dries matte. I rubbed a bit into my hand and did notice a difference with how my skin’s texture appeared. So instead of using this as a typical moisturizer, I believe it would be a perfect primer before makeup application. It will create an even canvas and keep me matte throughout the day. So re-purposing this product makes it a hit for me.

Marc Jacobs Fragrances Divine Decadence

We always get a small fragrance sample each month as an extra. I am terrible at describing scents, so I will not try too hard. It is warm and woodsy. It is masculine & feminine at the same time, which i enjoy, not overly sweet. I plan on throwing it in my makeup bag, its always good to have a fragrance with you.

SEPHORA COLLECTION LashCraft Length & Volume Mascara

The only reason this is a miss is because I do not wear mascara.  I have eyelash extensions and you’re not supposed to put any product on them.  Sephora collection has blown me away with some of their products in the past, so I am sure this mascara would do the same. I enjoy the fact that it is a natural bristle wand and not a plastic one. I plan on putting it in my mascara drawer (yes, i have a whole drawer full) and will use it when I take a break from my extensions. This product says it comes off with just warm water, which would be great. So, this is only kind of a miss, just because I don’t have a use for it at the moment.

Overall, I am pretty stoked about this month’s bag. I am mostly excited about the brands they decided to include, all well known, and mostly high-end!

What did you receive this month, I would love to know!

It is that time again! This hot pink mailer showed up today. I am always so excited when it does. Ipsy is my favorite beauty subscription that I receive. For $10 a month, you cannot beat the value of what you get. I usually enjoy being surprised but I did catch wind of some spoilers this month, and I have a feeling this month’s bag is going to be a good one!

Let’s see what I got:

Luna Cosmetics Highlighter in “Calypso”:

I am OBSESSED with this highlighter. First off, highlighters are my favorite thing on planet earth right now. I would apply them all over my body if I could. This product in particular is a fantastic size for a sample, it will take me forever to get through it. I would not be surprised if this was a full size. The pigmentation is great, and since it is a baked product if I was to apply it wet it would be even stronger. I also love supporting smaller brands, which Luna cosmetics is!

NYX Professional Makeup Butter™ Lipstick in “Ripe Berry”:

Another total hit! It is a full size lipstick, by a brand I already know I adore. The shade is gorgeous, it reminds me of raspberries, so the name “ripe berry” is oh so fitting. I love NYX “Butter” lip products. This lipstick is so comfortable on the lips and since it is a darker shade it stains the lips and lasts for hours after the hydration wears off. Very pleased with adding this product to my collection.

Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514:

Another full size product! I have received a few other Luxie brushes in my Ipsy bags and I must say they are becoming some of my favorites. They are so soft, you can’t even imagine. They are made with synthetic hairs, meaning it will pick up a great deal of pigment. Oh, and this one is just so pretty! Pink and rose gold, what could be better? Can’t wait to make this my new blush brush.

Biobelle #StayGorgeous and #Iwokeuplikethis Sheet Masks

Two sheet masks?! I am so excited. The full size count is up to 3 now, maybe 4. Yes, I could be peeved considering I received two sheet masks in my bag last month. But since sheet masks are my favorite skin care products at the moment, I am not peeved at all. I have heard good things about this brand, so I am excited to try these bad boys. The packaging is adorable too! Who doesn’t want to use something called “I Woke Up Like This?!”

Elizabeth Mott “Whatup Beaches” Matte Bronzer:

Okay, they do get points for the hilarious product name, I will give them that. However, this is a miss for a few reasons. First, I got a tiny bronzer sample in my bag last month. Second, the cheap plastic packaging just makes me want to get rid of this. You can pop the pan out to put into a magnetic palette if you have one (which I don’t right now). However, since the product is so small, good luck getting a brush in. I will have to re-purpose this as an eyeshadow,  because it would be a great crease color. For a bronzer sample though, this is a miss.

I am so happy with the products I received this time. This is one of the best bags I have ever gotten! I was let down by the makeup bag itself though. Yes I realize not everything in February needs to be pink and heart-shaped, but denim? Really?

Overall I am so pleased with Ipsy this time around!

You could say i am obsessed with beauty subscriptions, and you would not be wrong. They img_6939are the easiest way to update your beauty routine each month! For 10 dollars a month, Sephora play will send you 5 makeup, skin or hair samples PLUS a perfume sample all right to your mailbox.

These samples are usually smaller than the ones i receive in my Ipsy, but you still get the idea if you like the product or not. I have gotten some great items from this service. The Play box is chock full of samples that are all sold at Sephora, (DUH). Thus,  you naturallyimg_6938 end up with some more high end brands, that in the full size, would come with a hefty price tag. Therefore paying 10 dollars a month to get to try this stuff out is great. Also, some of the sample sizes last a good deal of time!

Sephora play is a set box, so everybody receives the same items. However, recently they have been sending out three or four variations of the box,  usually containing only one or two samples that differ from the other ones.

Here is what i got this month:

I was very pleased with my box this month. The item i enjoyed the most was the Clinique “Almost Lipstick” in the shade Black Honey. I have heard about this product for years. It is one of the brand’s best sellers, i am so glad i finally get to try it. The color seems a bit scary when you first look at it, but it goes on very sheer and is famous for looking good on all skin tones! I love foundation products so much. They are my favorite makeup to buy. Naturally i was stoked to get the Amore Pacific cushion foundation in my box. I am happy it came with two sample pads, because cushion foundations can tend to dry up fairly fast. I just now hope this shade works for my skin tone, but if not, that is what self tanner is for! The Tarte cleaner stick looks awesome too, i am getting more and more into taking care of my skin, so this black cleanser will be fun to test out, and the fact that it comes in a stick is so convenient!

It is that time again, the time each month where it feels a little bit like Christmas!img_6738 I shouldn’t be so nostalgic, considering Christmas was only a few weeks ago… but i digress. It is that time of the month where I receive a beautiful pink package in
my mailbox.

For those of you who don’t know Ipsy is a beauty subscription. For 10 img_6739dollars a month you receive 4-5 beauty product samples (sometimes full-size) right to your door. Since you fill out a personal survey when you sign up for the subscription, it is somewhat catered to your personal looks and preferences. I say somewhat, because they sometimes get it right, and sometimes… not so much.

I have been receiving this subscription for over a year now, and I must say, I am obsessed. I have gotten some awesome items and learned about new brands along the way. Some of the products have put me outside of my comfort zone and are things I would never think to pick up on my own. That is the beauty of it.

Here is what I got this month:

It was not my favorite month. I would have liked to receive slightly bigger sample sizes, but you can’t be so lucky every time. My favorite items were the sheet masks, which are my obsession right now. I do a sheet mask at least once a week, and having two more to add to my collection is awesome. The blush is my second favorite, its a good size, I can actually fit my brush in it. The color looks gorgeous on the skin and has great lasting power.
