I have been wanting white booties for a while now.  There are a lot of styles available out there so it took me a while to find the PERFECT pair. White shoes may seem like an odd choice in the dead of winter but I promise you, they are just the ticket. Winter whites look chic as can be and will transition into your spring wardrobe effortlessly.

Go for a stiletto for a sleek look or a block heel for built-in comfort. Both give off the same vibe and look great. White shoes can seem daunting, I know. I can practically hear y’all yelling “they will get dirty in five minutes Casey!” Always opt for a protector spray, this is a good tip for any of your leather or suede shoes. Make a point to be diligent about doing a quick clean after a couple of wears and you will keep them pristine with minimal effort. Look for a studded pair or a classic chelsea boot. You have the opportunity to have fun with this style. Are you more trendy or western? White booties popped up EVERYWHERE this year so your favorite retailer is bound to have the ideal pair.

I love styling mine with denim or a flouncy dress. These boots go with more than you think! Wearing them with jeans is a casual route to take but will take any outfit up a notch. Sometimes you don’t want to think too much in the morning, a dope pair of shoes do just the trick to look like you put in more effort than you did. Straight leg jeans work great with these boots, a street style favorite. This lived in look is what created the hype for this trend. Skinny jeans (I wear mine cuffed) would work too. I opt for a light or medium wash denim when wearing my booties, too much of a contrast between the jeans and stark white cuts off the line of the leg. Us short girls need all the help we can get.

White boots styled with a dress will add a hint of edge to your girly number. I love pairing dainty dresses with chunky boots. You don’t have to wear heels or ballet flats all the time! Boots add a much-needed attitude to an otherwise typical appearance. Let’s keep people guessing, shall we?

What do you think of this trend? Are you going to be rockin’ white booties anytime soon? I can guarantee these will be my most worn shoes for the next few months. Let me know all your thoughts and shop down below!

There have been a lot of trends in 2018. Some of which were amazing and others not so much. That is why I’m pleased to welcome back an oldie but goodie, the leopard print!  Was it ever really gone though? Leopard print is a classic look that has been around for decades. But I’m excited to say this print is currently having a major moment to round out the year.

This trend can be worn at any age (yes, I do mean any) which makes it such a quintessential look for your wardrobe. To keep it  fresh, search for streamlined pieces and just add one pop of feline fun to your outfit. More than that and it will look like you’re making a mockery of this majestic pattern. Which means you do not need to run out and buy a ton of new stuff, whew!

Be on the prowl for this pattern in accessories at first. A leopard purse or shoes are fun add-ons and will look great with any outfit you already own.  A leopard scarf over a stellar jacket or sweater will turn heads and keep you warm. A little accoutrement will help you tip toe into this trend.

Leopard print should be seen as a neutral which sparks a plethora of fun ideas. Wearing this style with a bright pop of color will highlight it even more so. Don’t feel the need to shy away in other areas of your outfit whilst wearing a bold print.

If you love it after that, go ahead and dive in with a coat. My personal  favorite way to rock this ferocious print. A faux fur or trench style is the perfect completer piece for any outfit. I adore adding a leopard jacket to add instant glam when wearing a basic t-shirt and jeans. It takes any outfit from day-to-night in two seconds flat.

What are your thoughts on leopard? Right up your alley or too much? I recommend trying this print to pump up any outfit, you may find that you love it!

Buying gifts is rewarding but not always easy. We could all use a little help deciding on the perfect thing for our loved ones. Here are some easy, readily available options at a reasonable price. Last minute shopping doesn’t have to be a headache.

After all, the true meaning of the holidays is spending quality time with the ones you hold dear.

Fashion

The trend that keeps popping up everywhere? Leopard! It’s baaaaaaack, in a big but streamlined way. Look for an accessory in this print and you will give the fashionista in your life the ideal gift. An oversized scarf will go with what she already owns without having to worry about the fit.

A leopard print watch is another wise choice. Watches add a touch of sophistication to any ensemble. A stylish gesture that will give her no excuse to be late to your weekly brunch date.

Beauty

The best beauty gift I received this year was a jade roller. I’m passing on the love to the skin care oriented chicas in my life. They promote good health, are fun to use and look stinkin’ adorable on your bathroom counter. Bundle with some sheet masks and you’ll end up with the perfect spa day gift basket. Every woman needs a little TLC in her life. Give her the gift of relaxation, she deserves it.

Games + Entertainment

The more entertainment in life, the better. Whether you are buying for a book-worm or finally want to beat your sister in a game for once, I’ve got you covered.

Cards Against Humanity is a HILARIOUS option. Catan is competitive and strategic but just as fun! Perfect for your friend who is always hosting game night.

Give Becoming by Michelle Obama to the most topical woman in your life, girl power! An important read we should all tackle this upcoming year, including me. A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell is ideal for the mystery lover you know. I couldn’t put it down earlier this year. Bonus points if you watch the tragically bad movie adaptation with her afterwards.

Do not feel you have to go over the top this season. It truly is the thought that counts. What are you hoping to get this year? What are you giving as your best gift? From the bottom of my heart, happy holidays, may it be as magical as you are!

I did a thing, a BIG thing! If you have been clicking around my site then you already know. Caseykayblog.com got a total makeover! Blogging is a constant work in progress. I am always making adjustments and changes along the way. This is the biggest overhaul I have ever done and it was nerve-racking, to say the least.

I was contacted by Emily from the company Blogerize with an offer to help me re-vamp my site. I was skeptical, of course. She said it would be free and that she would handle all the complicated stuff I hadn’t been able to figure out on my own. Even more skepticism at that point. Free? Come on, what’s the catch? Turns out, NO CATCH! After a ton of emails back and forth, Emily sent me a design mock-up of how (if I was so inclined) my site would look. I gave her input on a color pattern and how important my instagram feed was to my site. Once I saw the design she came up with, I was all in. A much more user-friendly homepage that totally fits my aesthetic.

Then came the process of becoming a self hosted blog. A task I have always wanted but could never figure out after trying for a year. Emily took care of all the heavy lifting and now I’ve grown leaps and bounds in what I am able to do on my blog. Did I pay for the self hosting storage? Yes, but at $47 a year, to me it was worth it. Emily got everything figured out on her end and in 24 hours I had a brand new, shiny blog. I can customize and add more content than ever possible prior to the switch. This is all so exciting! Some minor adjustments were made by me, such as  creating a new logo header and changing some fonts. I’m much too picky to give up ALL creative control. Together though, we created a site I am proud of. My motivation to grow this blog has multiplied ten fold during this process.

If you are looking to start or change-up your blog I highly recommend using Blogerize. The whole process could not have been easier. Do you research beforehand (I read at least twenty Blogerize reviews before agreeing) but know that it IS the real deal. The team was so responsive to my needs and worries. The outcome was a truly beautiful interface that I hope you enjoy as much as I do. Go ahead, click around!

I can get easily distracted, especially by new things. Here a few of items that caught my attention this month:

This Blog: Kind of a no-brainier. I started this blog this month, so of course it has been one of my favorite things. I have enjoyed writing it tremendously so far. Having an outlet for my creativity has inspired and helped me so much. I recommend anybody who is on the fence about starting something like this, to do it. It is nerve racking putting yourself out there, but the positivity and support I have gotten has warmed my heart, and I believe it would do the same for any of you!

“Blame it on NARS” cheek palette: All in one face kits have been my savior this month. Since I am so lazy, ( I wonder how many times I have said that already, somebody keep a running tally for me?) having one palette with majority of the products I need makes it a go-to. The bronzer is a beautiful shade for warming up the face, but it is too intense & warm for contouring. The highlighter is natural and leaves you looking healthy and glowing. Between the two blushes, “Day Dream” the peach-y tone with slight shimmer has been the staple for my flush. All the colors are pigmented, blend well and take the guess work out of getting ready. They are all warm toned, so if that color scheme isn’t your jam, this palette may not be for you. My favorite part of this product? The mini “Ita” kabuki brush, a cult favorite from Nars’ line. I use this with the bronzer to add some color back to my face and with  other palettes for a sharp contour. The bristles unique shape is perfect for multitasking.

Braided Bun: I have never been good doing my hair. Yes, I know, I am losing my credibility more and more by the minute. When I am getting ready, I enjoy spending more time on my makeup rather than my hair. That all changed when I found this hairstyle. After searching on Pinterest, of course, I stumbled across the Braided Bun. Finally a style I can re-create in MINIMAL time with almost NO effort. Seriously, if I can do it, anybody can! Put your hair into a high ponytail, the higher the better! Take the ponytail, divide into two sections. Then braid each sections. Take the two braids and wrap around each other until a bun is formed. Secure with a hair tie that matches your hair color. This bun looks unique, you will be keeping you hair out of your face & the style will stay all day. You will trick people into thinking that you have your life together with this hairstyle.

Black Furry Cross-body: It has been all about accessories for me lately. The second I saw this purse, I knew I had to have it. After finally getting my butt out for shopping for spring clothing, I saw this bad boy! I love the fact that the purse has gold hardware, sits at a good length on my body & is black. All these attributes make it very wearable for day to day. The best part though is the fur. I LOVE THE FUR, it makes this piece unexpected and fun. Be warned though, you will want to pet it all day. With a purse like this, heads are sure to turn. Unfortunately this one is out of stock, but there are a lot of similar ones out there for you to pick up.

These were the items that got me through January. What are your favorite products from this month?
