I love when trends start to change from season to season. This spring and summer it will be all about the stripe. Vertical, horizontal, thick or thin. Any way you want to rock it, you will be stylin’. This pattern can be found in any shape, color, size and style you can think of! That is exactly what makes this trend so easy-going and fun. White and cool toned accents make this trend look refreshing, so keep an eye out for those. There are so many different ways you can nod at this nautical inspired style without looking over the top. Anywhere you shop you will be able to find an item that will fit this spring must have look. There are most likely items already hung up in your closet that would knock this trend out the park. I chose to create three outfits to showcase this style craze; casual, taken up a notch and a dressier option. You will want to wear stripes all day everyday, I promise!
This is the most casual take on the striped trend that I have been wearing lately. You can never go wrong with a good ol’ t-shirt, comfy and cute, nothing better than that! Find a striped t-shirt that fits snug to the body to defeat the “horizontal stripes make you look wider” mindset. I chose to tuck the shirt into a pair of high-waisted white jeans, because nothing goes better than a navy stripe and crisp whites. Silver jewelry is a must for this outfit. This look is perfect for the everyday on-the-go type of girl.
To take the trend up a notch, I fell in love with this thinly striped romper. It is short but still acceptable for day because it doesn’t fit too tight and has long sleeves. I adore that it has a bell sleeve, thus knocking out two current trends at once. Paired with a black heel and choker to match the black stripe this outfit just screams “too cool for school.” You can wear this all day and then be dressed perfectly for happy hour at night. The thickness of the heel’s strap and the choker contrast nicely with the thin stripe of the romper.
For the dressiest of striped options, look no further than a dress! Nothing faster than throwing on a dress, one item and you are out the door! I chose a flowy, a-symmetrical hemmed dress because it is perfect for day to night. It doesn’t fit too snugly like a lot of dresses so you will be comfortable still feel like you can breathe. This look is easily dressed down for day with a matching navy wide brimmed hat (because lets be real, it’s cuter than another day of dry shampooed hair) or dressed up with a sky high pair of nude stilettos. Either way you will look effortlessly chic and as if you are late for an expensive meal somewhere.
