Do you have upcoming summer nuptials to attend? I know I do! Wedding season is officially upon us and I could not be more excited. Going to these love filled bashes is one of my favorite things to do. It does not matter if I know anybody else in attendance or not. If you are getting married, I am there! My favorite part of these joyous occasions is finding the perfect outfit (okay, second favorite behind all the food)!
Before you get gung-ho about shopping or rifling through your closet for the ideal attire there are some questions you need to ask yourself:
- What is the venue?
- What is the theme?
- Is the wedding during the day or at night?
- What color are the bridesmaids wearing?
Some of these questions are easier to answer than others. If you are just a plus one it is not going to be easy to find out the wedding’s color scheme without being a SERIOUS snoop. That is okay because these questions are just a start to steer yourself towards the right outfit. If you have all the answers you are that much more prepared, if not I will give you some no fail options down below.
I am lucky enough to be able to attend a wedding this August and plan on wearing this two piece set right here. I am thrilled that I found a coordinating set that would work for a beach ceremony & the reception that follows. Two piece sets are a refreshing look for summer and perfect for weddings. They make you look like you tried a lot more than you actually did (don’t worry, your secret is safe with me). Since the wedding I am going to is during the day and a bit more casual I think I can get away with showing a bit of midriff. The outfit strikes a pleasant balance because the skirt is on the longer side so too much skin is not shown.
Since day weddings and nighttime weddings vary so much from one another I decided to separate my top picks from one another. After all, you are going to wear something drastically different for a beach wedding rather than a ballroom one.
For day weddings you get to have tons of fun and play around with prints and fabrications. Ruffles, florals and lace are always great options! These choices are trending right now and will make you appear fresh as a daisy. Lighter colors will make you pop and not look overdone for daytime festivities. Seek out other popular details such as off-the-shoulder or high neck pieces to keep any outfit current! I chose a long sleeve and a sleeveless option because no matter the weather or the amount of modesty needed you can still look stylin’. Sandals could easily be worn with these styles instead of heels to ensure comfort. Wearing your hair up is always a classy option and keeps it out of your face while dancing, which is crucial!
Going to a night wedding? Lucky you, getting to dance the night away and look amazing at the same time! I choose more streamlined options for the evening. I personally like to keep prints during the day, but if prints are your thing go for it! Again, I chose one look with sleeves and one without. A nighttime event is all about looking luxurious and polished. Look for a v-neck to elongate your neck and sleek lines that fit close to the body to keep you from looking messy. These details will kick up the sex appeal while still making you look chic. If the neckline is too much for you, a camisole underneath would be a lovely modification. An event taking place in the later hours calls for a richer color palette. Leave your pastels at home and indulge in some deeper, saturated hues. Wearing your hair in a high chignon or top knot will elongate you even more (every inch counts)!
Times may have changed and majority of the rule book has been thrown out the window but please no black or white outfits! There are so many more fun options out there that will not upset the bride. It is important to remember that this event is not about you so just make sure whatever you wear is not too revealing or garish.
You will look beautiful for any summer wedding so make sure to take lots of pictures to show off your ensemble. Don’t forget to shop all my top choices down below. Cheers and yes, you should have that piece of cake!
