The sleeve is having a major moment currently. Bigger is always better when it comes to showing off those strong arms you worked so hard for. Classic silhouettes that feature large and in charge sleeves will make you look anything but basic. You can’t go wrong with this trend, choose a bell, a puff, ruffles or off the shoulder, ANYTHING! Just be prepared because this trend will certainly make you stand out.
Exaggeration is the most fun you can have in fashion and playing up your arms is a great place to start. The best part of the statement sleeve movement? The more you draw the eye to your extremities the less people are looking at your waistline, which is always a plus.
I chose this OTS (off the shoulder) top with large ruffled sleeves because just look how fun it is! This top fits the trend but doesn’t overwhelm my small frame which is always important to look for. No matter how trendy a piece is, if it doesn’t fit your body shape correctly it won’t look good.
The easiest way to nail this look is with a bell sleeve. You might even have a piece like this hanging around in your closet from a previous season. If not, this popular style can be found in any color and cut you could imagine. I have been obsessed with bell sleeves for as long as I can remember and am ecstatic that they are back and bigger (literally) than ever!
You can take this trend as far as you want to go, all it will do is heighten the interest level. Voluminous sleeve will make you look like you just walked off the runway, who wouldn’t want that? If this trend seems too much to handle, as always I believe you should start small. Look for a classic button down with an interesting sleeve or a dress with a bit more volume on the arms than you are used to. I believe that 2017 is the year of the sleeve so this trend will easily transition into fall.
Let your arms do the talking for a bit, you will look chic as can be. I have linked all my super sleeve picks down below. What are your thought on this trend? I would love to know. Happy shopping because there is nothing better than saying “thanks, its new” when you get a compliment!
