Rounding off my beauty boxes for the month is Sephora Play! This subscription has been on a probation period as of late. I am hoping that what I received this month turns that all around for me, but I am not overly confident.
Let’s see what I got:
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation
I am always surprised when boxes include products that have to match a certain skin tone. That is just so specific! Imagine how many different samples would have to be sent out. Sephora tried the impossible and nailed it because this foundation matches me quite well. Make Up For Ever is a great brand and well known for their complexion products. I thoroughly enjoy wearing this foundation, it has the perfect amount of coverage but doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. The liquid consistency only needs one layer for perfect application so this sample will last you longer than you think. It blends seamlessly and makes my skin look flawless for hours and what more can you ask for?
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist
Settings sprays hold a special place in my heart. The fact that this one is from the brand Tarte (another amazing brand and one of my favorites) certainly doesn’t hurt either. This spray can be used as a primer mist to prep the skin or as a makeup finishing spray to set your face once makeup is complete. I have used it both ways and while I don’t notice a huge difference in my makeup’s appearance throughout the day, I still enjoy it. The mister is very fine and coats the face well without feeling like you just took a ride on Splash Mountain. The smell is pleasant, applying this product comforted me and if it made me look just a tad better, I’ll take that any day!
Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer
Just like setting sprays, I am also obsessed with primers. Both these types of products work to keep your makeup on longer and heighten the appearance, who wouldn’t want that? Urban Decay did not get very good reviews about this primer but I was still happy to try it for myself. While my makeup looked good when using this item, do I know that I can chalk it all up to this primer? No, but I am sure it did not hurt the situation either. It is fairly thick so unfortunately you have to use a lot of product to cover the face. It makes your skin velvety smooth and does an okay job of filling in pores which creates a better base for foundation application. I just didn’t notice anything spectacular happening. This product wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t the worst either.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster
Two Make Up For Ever products in one bag? Yes please! This one is a serum, which is my favorite step in my skincare routine. This serum is geared more towards using prior to makeup application than your typical skin benefiting serum but I’ll still take it! It has a milky appearance and spreads so quickly across the skin that it is almost fun to apply. The purpose of this item it to really hydrate and plump up the skin, which my dry skin could always use. It almost works as a primer before you go in apply a true makeup primer. I find this product very interesting and am intrigued to try it out more.
Dr. brandt PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator
If you read my last post you know that I received a full size of this product in my Boxycharm for the month. Brands must have some sort of deal with these boxes that lets them send out products in as many subscriptions as possible. I enjoy using this product, I just don’t need another little sample of it. No need to be greedy here, I will happily put this in my giveaway pile in order for it to find a new home.
Sephora Play nailed it with the brands they included this month. The product sample sizes were small, yes, but they typically are in this subscription so I am use to it by now. I am fairly happy with this bag, happier than I have been in recent months. So as of now, I will continue this subscription. They are finally proving their worth to me. What products did you get this month? I would love to know!
