February 2018 Favorites

February may be a short month but it was more than enough time for me to really fall in LOVE with several things.

Embroidered Shoes

Shoes tend to fit more often than clothing and that is a real mood booster when shopping. Taking a look at my recent footwear purchases, there is certainly an overall theme. I cannot seem to get enough of embroidered shoes. An intricate design on a shoe is the prettiest (and easiest, lazy girls can I get an amen?!) way to step up an outfit. With a knockout shoe your jeans and t-shirt combo looks like you tried a heck of a lot harder than you did. Loving the embroidered trend lately!

Multi Priming

Whoever said “more is more” had the right idea. I usually put a primer under my makeup but it never occurred to me to wear more than one. The areas on our face aren’t the same, so why treat them like they are? Yes, this is a high maintenance step, but when you have the time it is a great trick! I have been starting with a primer spray for a boost of hydration then going all over with a matte or dewy primer (depending on the look I am going for). To finish I take a pore filling product around my nose and smile lines, the places where my makeup tends to settle most in fine lines. I have definitely noticed a difference in how my makeup lasts and looks throughout the day.!

This month has been great and brought to light new items that I fell head over heels for. Hope your month was just as good! What items did you find yourself loving? Let me know down in the comment section.

January 2018 Favorites

January has flown by and I am still getting use to it being 2018. Anybody else feel old?! This month has been a blast and along the way I discovered a ton of great stuff.

Lip Exfoliator

Winter can mean dry cracked lips. This is never a good look but especially not under a lip color. My lips are dry and flaky all year long to be honest. I needed something to start the healing process fast so I could apply my lip color. Enter in the E.L.F  lip exfoliator. This product comes in a lipstick format making it easy to swipe on the lips without having to dig your finger into a pot. Gritty brown sugar sits within a moisturizing balm, so you get two treatments in one! Just apply and then wipe away and all your dead skin goes along with it. This keeps my pucker looking pretty. Did I mention it smells like candy and costs only three dollars?! I suspect it will become one of your favorites as well.

Michael Kors Cindy crossbody

Another black purse, just what I need right? No! The shape of this Michael Kors purse is what drew me in though and I now love having it in my collection. Small black purses are always going to be a stylish staple because hello, they go with everything! The adjustable chain strap takes it up a notch and can easily be dressed up or down. A quality leather purse will last a very long time so look for a shape that you will love for years to come. For me? The Cindy crossbody is that shape.

More “Me” Time

I am firm believer in how important it is to make time for yourself. This improves one’s mood and mental health. I have been striving to have at least one pamper sesh a week to check in with myself. This can mean indulging in a lovely bubble bath or doing a sheet mask and binge watching Netflix. Just giving myself time to relax and refocus has allowed me to appreciate life so much more. I can absolutely see a difference in my energy and mood. Our lives more so fast and time can easily get away from us. I urge you to make a commitment to put yourself first and slow the clock down even if just for a bit. Go ahead, take that nap girl, you deserve it!

December 2017 Favorites

One of my favorite months has drawn to a close. Who doesn’t love the holidays?! I fell hard for a LOT of things this December but I promise to keep it as brief as possible.

Athleisure Items

The holidays usually ensue a good amount of craziness. When that happens, it is so easy to only care about being comfortable while running around. That doesn’t mean you can’t be comfortable AND cute! Trendy athleisure pieces have been saving my butt lately. Lululemon, Zella and Lucy have taken over my wardrobe this month. Fast fashion retailers are taking note as well and creating athletic lines for a lower price point. With up to date stylized details I look more girl on the town than girl just leaving the gym. lovely and laid back? Yes please. Leggings and slip on sneakers are always a chic option. You also can’t go wrong in a bright zip up (just don’t forget the finger hole sleeves). You do not need to look like a mess to get functionality out of your outfit.

Covergirl “Ready, Set Gorgeous” Foundation

I probably shouldn’t be writing about this foundation because I unfortunately think it is getting discontinued. However, this item is too good not to talk about. It is the main product I have been wearing this month. This foundation has no added frills and just does exactly what it should. It gives the skin a satin finish with medium coverage that lasts all day. This is a great choice for makeup that needs to go from a day look to a night out. It dries down completely and doesn’t necessarily need to be set with powder, allowing you to apply your makeup even faster. I have a problem with foundation breaking up on my skin throughout the day but not with this one! When my makeup has to look good and I want to take the guesswork out of my routine, this is what I grab for. Currently this product is still sold on Covegirl.com and at Walmart. If you get the chance to snag this before it is gone (hopefully on sale), do it quick!

Planned Packing

Packing can be a stressful process especially when going home for the holidays. You want to look your best and wear your favorite pieces. This may mean stuffing extra outfits in your suitcase at the last-minute if you constantly overpack like me. This time around, I really tried to plan out outfits before I left for my trip. This act ended up saving me a ton of room and time. There was a lot of bonus space in my suitcase for anything purchased during my vacation. Win win situation! I am all about multiple options for my day-to-day routine but having my outfits already picked ahead of time was a refreshing break. Anything that gets me out the door quicker on a vacation is a total plus in my book.

I hope your holiday season was as good as mine. What were the products you found delightful this December? Tell me down in the comment section, I would love to know!

October 2017 Favorites

October is my favorite month of the year for many reasons. The major one being it is the month my birthday resides in. So many other exciting things happened as well and I can’t wait to share my favorite products from the last thirty one days with you!

Sephora Birthday Gift

Getting free stuff on your birthday is one of the best parts, am I right? Sephora (and Ulta) offer a free gift for the month of your birthday. I went to my closest Sephora and picked up the Tarte mini gift set (no purchase necessary, this is free stuff that really IS free). I love Tarte products so I was happy to see Sephora offering this as one of the birthday options. This blush and liquid lipstick set is totally up my alley. The shades of both products are a dusty mauve that work well when worn together. The liquid lipstick in the shade “Birthday Suit” has a mousse-y texture, it may not last all that long but it feels great on the lips. It looks like my natural lip color just taken up a notch, it is so pretty and wearable that I don’t mind having to reapply throughout the day. The real star here however, is the blush. The mini compact packaging is just adorable and Tarte is very well known for their Amazonian Clay blush formula. This product lasts all day on me and I really do mean all stinkin’ day long. No blush lasts on me as long as this one does. I am so happy that it is a great everyday shade because I will be wearing this all the time. If your birthday is in November or December, run don’t walk to Sephora (or go online) to pick up your gift.

Platform Sneakers

I am obsessed with shoes and have been for as long as I can remember. Typically the addiction is based around heels but a new fave has come around this month. Sneakers are very on trend and so comfortable, definitely a win-win style. The sneakers in particular I am referring to are ones that feature a platform sole. They are cute as can be and if they end up making me a bit taller, so be it! These styles range from edgy to cutesy and I cannot get enough. If I am going to be wearing flat shoes they have to look amazing! All my fellow vertically challenged girls out there should follow suit so WE can finally answer the question “how is the weather up there?”

Dressing Up

Halloween jump starts the holiday season which I am a HUGE fan of. While I may not be into the scary and gory aspects of this holiday, the dressing up part I can whole-heartedly get behind. I adore wearing costumes and getting to paint my face, which I am sure this blog just reiterates. Being able to become whoever you want is such a beautiful freedom that we do not always get. I had so much fun during this week and was stoked with the creations I came up. Minnie mouse & Daisy Buchanan from the Great Gatsby were my choices this year! They may not be the most original but that’s okay, because it is all about having fun. No costume? No problem, that is where makeup skills come in handy! What is your favorite costume you’ve ever donned?

Monthly Favorites: August 2017

Time REALLY does fly when you’re having fun. This is certainly the case for me and the month of August. I spent half of this month traveling (NYC, baby) and the other half shopping a ton. Sounds like the perfect thirty-one days if you ask me! Down below are the items that caught my attention this August.

Maybelline Baby Lips

The Baby Lips line from Maybelline has been around for a long period of time, I wore these products in high school! This product in particular was lost in my collection FOREVER. I haven’t used it in so long that I am not sure if they even make this exact one anymore but the newer ones perform the same I would assume. I rediscovered it recently and brought it with me on my vacation. I thought it would be easy to wear on the plane, give me hydration and a bit of color. Little did I remember that these bad boys are super pigmented! One swipe gave me a powerful pink pout. It feels just like a lip balm but your lips look full, juicy and amazingly colorful. The hydration lasts a good amount of time and even when it does go away the color stains the lips and lasts all day. I ended up using this EVERY DAY on my trip and haven’t stopped yet. It is so easy to wear and looks great! I can’t wait to try out more colors.

Namastay in Bed t-shirt

Naps are my favorite thing, probably ever. Seriously if I could stay in bed all day I certainly would! When I found this t-shirt I couldn’t help but giggle and think “that’s so me.” It doesn’t hurt that it is also comfortable as heck to wear. Screen t-shirts have been everywhere lately. Sometimes it is just the best way to get one’s point across. I love wearing this shirt tucked in to ripped jeans with a pair of heels, the mix of structured and relaxed silhouettes keeps it interesting.

Wearing Flat Shoes

Due to an injury I acquired almost two months ago, I haven’t been wearing heels as often. Believe me, I have tried but there are times that heels just hurt my ankle far too much. Thank goodness that there are an abundance of cute flat shoes out there! Sneakers have been the name of the game for me. There are just too many dope styles available and they go with everything. The juxtaposition between a dress and a pair of sneakers has been a lot of fun to play around with. I highly recommend getting a pair of sneakers that you love and wearing them to death, you will be surprised at how many outfits they work with.

I hope you enjoyed August as much as I did. What were the products you couldn’t get enough of this month? I would love to know!

July 2017 Favorites

Another month has come and gone. I had a great time in July which is no surprise since it is hard not to in the heart of summer. Tons of celebrations and soaking up the sun! I hope you enjoyed your month as much as I have. Here are the things that made my heart skip a beat along the way!

Bone Colored Crossbody

I enjoy having a purse to go with every outfit. I was missing a neutral colored purse in my collection and was on the search for a nude handbag. When I laid my eyes on this bone colored crossbody, I knew it was the one. I love the hardware and its beautiful simplicity. This purse has blended perfectly with my wardrobe. It looks fab with all the summer outfits I have been wearing lately. I needed something lighter in color to go with my hot heat outfits and this was just the ticket! The crossbody style is so easy and comfortable to wear for everyday. This item will transition into fall fashions nicely as well. Totally happy with this handbag. You should think about getting on for yourself, you won’t regret it!

Laniege Water Bank Moisture Cream

I am obsessed with moisturizer and always make sure I have plenty on hand. I apply it to my skin generously and often. It is important to always have something on the skin to protect and hydrate it. I was sent the Laniege Water Bank Moisture Cream in return for an honest review from Influenster. I am so grateful because I ADORE this stuff. I have been obsessing over it all month long. First off, the packaging is perfect. It comes in a beautiful blue glass jar that looks lovely on my vanity. It is also equipped with a mini spatula for application. This is to ensure you don’t spread bacteria to your face or get anything growing in the jar (which putting your hand in day after day would cause). Smart and cute little details like that is what made me fall in love with this product and brand! The cream itself is thick and luxurious. A little goes along way and it sinks into the skin fast. This moisturizer allows my skin to instantly feel and look more plump! This product makes my skin feel hydrated all day and preps it beautifully for makeup. You can find this line at Sephora, making it easily accessible (or you can make it even easier and shop my link down below). I will certainly be buying more from this brand!

CaseyKayStyle Instagram

I have recently created an Instagram account specifically for this blog. It was much-needed and has been such a joy. I dig having another outlet to let people know about recent blog posts. The “outfit of the day” pictures have been a hoot to shoot as well. Social media is a huge part of marketing yourself and your business. Having a new way to connect with all of you has made my heart so happy! Each day is a new learning opportunity. Through this new account I have learned leaps and bounds about photography and photo editing. I can’t wait to grow my account and let my creativity shine. Make sure you follow this new endeavor at @caseykaystyle to keep up with all the craziness!

June 2017 Favorites

This month flew by because I was just having too much fun! Between the official start of summer and the beautiful weather so many amazing things happened these last four weeks. I was even lucky enough to fall in love with some products along the way!

Madewell Metallic Wrap Sandals

The gladiator style doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I decided to jump on board with the trend by buying these tarnished silver wrap and tie sandals. I LOVE them! They go with just about every summer outfit and I have been wearing them all month long. I adore the fact that they are so stinkin’ comfortable (see, I wear flats every once in a while). The tassel ties are the perfect added touch as well. Metallic accents are a fun pop to any outfit but these sandals would be just as cute in any other color. I have an inkling these will be on my feet all summer long.

Wet Brush

I will admit I never use to put thought into what hair brush I used. I would pick up any brush that was lying around and get to work. Enter in the wet brush, where that ALL changed. The Wet Brush is famous for being able to be used when your hair is wet (but I bet you already figured that out). This brush came in handy for me after I went blonde. Bleaching your hair within an inch of it’s life has major ramifications. My hair is so thin now even more so than it was before. The Wet Brush is gentle and has very flexible bristles. You can use it without it tugging and don’t have to worry about it ripping out hair. I love this brush and even carry one around with me in my handbag. Perhaps a bit of overkill, but I never want to be forced to use another kind of hairbrush ever again! It comes in so many fun colors and patterns as well, it is kind of like an accessory! I am a wet brush user for life now.

Obviously a vacation is going to be one of my favorites for the month. I would be crazy not to put it because who doesn’t love a good trip away?! My delightful destination was Denver, Colorado for a week. I did not have any expectations for this trip. I was excited to get away but didn’t know enough about Denver to get excited to be there. However, I was quickly blown away by the city. There is so much beautiful scenery, fun things to do, and amazing food. Because let’s face it, food is the best part of a vacation! It is refreshing to wear items of clothing that you love while away and pick up new pieces as well! I loved this trip so much that I would be happy to live there someday!

I hope that your month was as good as mine. Are there any products or moments that you adored this June? I would love to know! Let me get your month’s recap down below in the comment section!

May Favorites 2017

Another month came and went, as they do. The reason this post is a tad late is because my month was SO busy. Filled with weekend trips, tons of work and other exciting things along the way. I am never too busy to find new items to obsess over though!

Here they are:

Military Green Bomber Jacket

Usually jackets in this color and style tend to be on the heavier side, making them perfect for Fall. However, I was lucky enough to score a lightweight bomber jacket in the perfect military green shade (which is a neutral). I have been wearing it with just about everything this month. I use to never wear jackets because I never wanted to cover my outfit up. However the addition of a completer piece, like a light jacket, can actually make your outfit look far more pulled together. This style of jacket in this shade will blend perfectly into your wardrobe. The go-to item for all your fun summer adventures!

Pastel Nails

Since I am now obsessed with getting gel manicures, one may think I would have a signature color by now. Nope! Choosing a new shade each time is more than half the fun. The last two times I have gotten my nails done I have chosen pastel shades. One being light blue and the next being a pale pink. Pastel shades are perfect for contrasting against your summer tan and not competing with any color scheme you may be wearing in your outfit. Pastels are trending everywhere and are going to be the summer nail staple

Working out

If you know me you know that it is INSANE that I am putting the act of working out as a favorite of mine for this month. I use to never workout, EVER and was never inclined to eat a vegetable unless I absolutely needed to. Times change, bodies change and it became evident that some physical activity was needed in my life. I have been working out for several months now about 3 times a week. May was the first month however where if I was not able to make it to the gym, my body could feel it. I do a routine of weight lifting and calisthenics AKA cardio. Nothing insane at all, just enough to tone some stuff up and make me feel good. If my clothes start to fit a bit better that is just an added bonus.

I had a great month and hope you did too! What were the items that you were loving in the month of May? I would love to know! As always, make sure to check out all my top (affordable) picks linked down below.

April Favorites 2017

Another month has flown by, and I truly do mean FLOWN. Time has been going by so incredibly fast lately. Since that has no inclination of stopping, it is best to just enjoy the ride!

Here the things that I have been obsessed with this month:

It has been a tumultuous six months for the relationship between me and my skin. At the age of 24 I have been dealing with more skin issues and breakouts than I ever have in my life. I thought I was over that hump in my life, guess not. I have been trying so many new skin care products lately and have been loving it. I still haven’t found the most amazing product in the world but my skin has benefited a lot by me just babying it. My skin is very dry so these products have been a huge drink for it. Eye creams and skin serums have been my favorite items to test out. I cannot see myself slowing down with with a good skincare regime anytime soon!

Light Washed Distressed Denim

If you have been reading my posts, eyeing my social media or have seen me at all in person chances are you know the exact pair of jeans I am talking about. Me and my best friend recently bought this same pair of jeans at the end of last month. They are all I want to wear right now. This lighter wash is something totally different for me, but they go perfectly with all the spring styles I have been rockin’ latley! I love that they are distressed but not completely shredded, it is a happy medium. They are slightly cropped which is a short girls dream because they do not need to be hemmed or cuffed, thank goodness! The mid-rise makes it ideal to wear with any top including cropped styles, so too much skin isn’t shown. They look great with any pair of shoes you wear, flat styles or heels! No matter what my outfit for the day may be chances are these pants are the star of the show. These jeans are my obsession and I think you should get a pair to see for yourself! I of course have them linked down below, they are so budget friendly too (thank me later).

Adjustable Food Ring

I do not cook, and when I do cook it does not come out looking too pretty. Enter this ring, I now look like a gourmet chef! Let’s face it, if I am cooking and it turns out well it is going on Instagram, don’t lie you are the same way! This ring makes gorgeous cylinders of layered delicacies. The recipe possibilities are endless (see my first attempt down below), which makes this contraption so fun. I am working on a deconstructed sushi roll tower next! It is adjustable depending on what size you want your tower to be and the thing really does hold all the ingredients together. It is definitely an awesome tool to  have in your repertoire, and would be a winner for dinner parties. So cool and EASY because believe me if I can do it, so can you. Then all you have to do is watch the “likes” roll in!

March 2017 Favorites

I had a fantastic time this month! It was the official start of spring, I went on a grown up “spring break” and have fallen in love with a lot of products along the way!

Let’s get to the favorites:

Wet N Wild “Precious Petals” Highlighting Powder

I have been on the hunt for this highlighter since it first came out. I was excited to try it because I had heard several beauty bloggers raving about it. It proved harder to find that I had expected, but  since I was able to snag it, I have been wearing it non-stop! It packs a pretty punch of rose gold glow to my face. It can be worn intense or subtle depending how much you apply. I think it plays beautifully with just about any makeup look on my skin tone. It doesn’t look obvious on my skin and blends beautifully making my skin look lit from within. Finding a great new highlighter is awesome because they last SO long. The best part? It is extremely inexpensive, $4.99 at your local drugstore or online. Score!

Wax Warmers

Yes, I am aware that this is a random favorite to have, but I have been loving my wax warmer this month! I adore having and buying candles, but hate burning them, they look so ugly after they have been used. So strictly for aesthetic purposes, I place candle around my home.  But when I need my place to smell nice and comforting, I just switch on my wax warmer. The wax lasts forever, you rarely have to change it and the scent throw is insane. In just a matter of moments my whole place is taken to a tropical paradise. Since blogging takes up a lot of my time, my home has become a second office. When it smells nice I get so much more work done. Wax warmers really do create a a therapeutic experience.

Leather Pants

These were a purchase near the end of the month but I am including them because I CANNOT stop wearing them. I am creating excuses to leave the house in them, we need more milk? Okay I am on it (in my new leather pants)! I love the seaming and stitch detail on the knee, it is flattering and adds something special. They are also comfortable since they are lined with a softer material. I went up a size from what I ordinarily wear because these bad boys are tight. So tight, that I did not want a Ross from that episodes of “Friends” experience (raise your hand if you know what I am referring too). I can easily dress them up with heels and a blouse or down with killer sneaks and a fun t-shirt. These pants make me look and feel totally bad-ass.

What are the items you have been loving from the past month? I would love for you to let me know down in the comments.
