Finally back to reviewing my monthly beauty subscriptions. Life sometimes just takes you in a different route, ya know? Happy to have received  July’s Ipsy glambag and thought this was the perfect month to jump back in!

Hits:

FIRMA BEAUTY 204 Wide Blender

I always love getting brushes. This is the first full size item of the bag! Tools  of any kind get used often. Receiving this brush feels like getting the most bang for my buck This is a thicker shader brush with synthetic bristles. Meaning, it is very soft and meant for packing color on the lid. I used this today and it worked great. Also, the more brushes I have the less often I have to wash them. Lazy girl win!

MÍDFLOWER Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mask

Sheet masks are great for getting a dose of skincare FAST. Hyaluronic acid also happens to be one of my favorite skincare ingredients. It does an incredible job of hydrating the skin. My dry skin needs all the moisturizing it can get, so these masks are a total hit for me. Plus, we get two in the bag!

PACIFICA BEAUTY Bronzer Blush Duo

This product seems to be full sized and the packaging is so pretty! When I first applied this I was a bit bummed, it is not very pigmented. However, after working with it more I now appreciate that it needs to be built up, ensuring I don’t overdo it. The bronzer shade is matte and gives a natural bronzed appearance to the skin. The dusty rose blush is shimmery and creates a glowy flush. Both went on very smoothly and looked great throughout the day. Being on the more natural side made me enjoy this more than I initially thought. How perfect for travel would this be too?!

CIATÉ LONDON Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer

I am OBSESSED with primer, like seriously obsessed. I never do my makeup without it. I even double prime to match my skin needs the best! The gel consistency of this primer hydrates the skin, smells amazing (like watermelon, perfect for waking you up in the morning) and has tiny beads that dissolve when you work it into the skin. What these tiny beads actually do is beyond me. This primer does not fully dry down, leaving the skin a bit tacky which really grips onto your makeup. I thoroughly enjoyed using this primer and could see myself picking this up in the full size.

Misses:

THEBALM COSMETICS Eyeshadow in He Said, She Said

Single eyeshadows kind of annoy me, especially sample size ones. Is it just me? I feel like they get lost in my collection too easily. For the person who doesn’t hoard makeup as much as I do, this would be a great product to receive, i’m sure. This shimmery lavender shade is quite pretty, and would look great with those of you with green eyes. I do enjoy The Balm’s packaging as well, I just think somebody else will get more use out of this.

Overall, I am pleased with this month’s bag. Four products (five if you include BOTH sheet masks) that will be certainly used up, all for ten dollars. Nothing wrong with that! What products did you get? Let me know down below!

You can get just about ANYTHING delivered to your door through subscription boxes these days. My favorite out of these options is services that cater to my beauty addiction. Receiving these gifts to myself each month makes me SO giddy. If you are thinking about signing up for a beauty box subscription, you are in for a treat! This is the perfect opportunity to try out fun new things you wouldn’t ordinarily buy for yourself. With there being so many options available it can be overwhelming to decide which service is right for you. Don’t stress, that’s where I come in! I am going to break down the high and low points of the beauty boxes I receive.

Ipsy

img_6284-1

I have been subscribed to Ipsy for a year and a half and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. This was the first subscription I ever received and is the reason I fell in love with this process. For $10 a month you receive five beauty samples. The samples range from makeup to skincare and everything in between (I get SO many makeup brushes with Ipsy). This is the perfect service to start off if you are just looking for one. You receive fabulous items that will build your collection in an inexpensive way. If you are ballin’ on a budget, Ipsy is perfect for you. This is the only service that will cost you ten dollars (that’s basically a large coffee) and still give you some full size products!

Pros:

– full & sample size products

– personalized survey to pick products

– cute makeup bag each month

– rewards program

Cons:

– sometimes receive low-end products

– waitlist period

Sephora Play

img_6154-1

I was excited when I heard that Sephora was coming out with their own beauty subscription service. I have been subscribed to this box for just about a year now. All the samples you receive come from products you can purchase at Sephora stores. If you fall in love with a sample you can easily find the full size! This is another $10 a month box that gives you five beauty items PLUS a perfume sample. The products range from all aspects of your beauty routine with an emphasis on hair and skin care. If that sounds up your alley, Sephora Play is the right service for you!

Pros:

– high-end products all sold at Sephora

– personalized survey

– a lot of great skin and hair care samples

– bonus perfume sample each month

Cons:

– small sample sizes, never full size

– waitlist period

– not as many makeup products

– no rewards program

Boxycharm

img_5881

I have been getting Boxycharm for the least amount of time but it did not take long for this subscription to steal my heart. For $21 a month you get a box filled with five full size beauty products equaling a total retail value of over $100 (the value cannot be beat). If you are a beauty junkie and want to build an impressive collection, this box is calling your name! They send out a full size eyeshadow palette almost every month, so much to love! Boxycharm is a makeup addict’s dream come true!

Pros

– full size items

– high-end brands

– easy to build an impressive collection

– features trending beauty items

– rewards program

Cons

– more expensive

– waitlist period

– if you do not like a product it’s hard to use up a full size

– no personalized survey

As you can see there are pros and cons to each one of these subscription services. Hopefully my input helped you out a little bit. My final ranked list is #1 Boxycharm #2 Ipsy and #3 Sephora Play. I am just far more excited by the first two each month. However, I think all of these services offer a great selection of items that would be the perfect treat each month. I have fallen in love with so many products from each of these boxes. You should go and read my previous beauty unboxings to see which subscription you most identify with! Order away pretty thang, you deserve a little pampering!

Do you subscribe to any of these and have a favorite? Are there any other beauty boxes I should sign up for? Let me know down in the comment section!

I checked my mailbox today and saw this hot pink mailer peeking out, which instantly put me in a good mood! Getting my beauty subscriptions is always my favorite part of the month. Ipsy had released a few spoilers but I tried so hard to not ruin the surprise for myself. I have no idea what I am getting this month but I know that I am excited!

Let’s get to the products:

Hits:

OFRA Cosmetics Blush in “Rendezvous”

This is by far my favorite item that I received in the bag. I have never tried anything by the brand Ofra but I have heard SO many good things! This blush pan is big and already happy at home in my Z-Palette. It is a beautiful rosy rust shade which looks dark but blends in perfectly to create a beautiful everyday flush. I was looking for a new go-to blush because all the ones in my collection have been boring me. I am hoping this Ofra blush does the trick for me!

Defy & Inspire Nail Lacquer in “Paradise Island”

I have not received a nail polish from Ipsy in so long, so it was due time. This color is a beautiful powder blue which is definitely out of my comfort zone. However I am happy to have received this shade because it is a beautiful color for spring and summer, especially against tan skin. It seems opaque and is formulated without all the bad stuff usually found in nail polish (like formaldehyde, gross). It states that it is wear resistant so hopefully it lasts well on my nails.

ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Pencil in “Mr. Bing”

I have one of these ColourPop eyeliners in my collection already and I LOVE IT. These pencils are automatic which is a lazy girl’s dream because who wants to spend time sharpening eye liners?! The name Mr Bing is a “Friends” reference so I knew I was going to love it no matter what. It is a deep brown shade which is great for days you want something less dramatic than black. It is applies smoothly so you will not be tugging on the gentle skin of your eye. I am glad they sent a different shade than black to keep it interesting. I cannot wait to create an eye look using this.

Misses:

PEEK Beauty Naturally Long Wearing Eye Shadow in “250k8”

This is a miss because individual eye shadows tend to get lost in my collection. For me palettes are so much easier to use and create a look with. The tin packaging of this shadow is cumbersome and difficult to open which makes me want to not even bother. The shadow is a shimmery mix of copper and brown which is beautiful, but I have this shade SO many times over in my collection already. I will say that it seems to be long-lasting, the swatches on my hand were difficult to get off. I know that I will use this, just probably not a whole lot.

SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner

I personally do not use a toner, so that is why this is a miss for me. I am aware that I probably should be using one, but it just seems like a pointless extra step. I will try this because I would love to be proven wrong and for it to do amazing things for my skin. This one in particular is made with some pretty luxe ingredients like truffle, rose and rosemary extracts, that part I like.

Overall this month was just so-so for me, not the worst but I know Ipsy can do better. The bag itself is pretty dang cute though and I will for sure be using it in my purse. Definitely a creative design and nothing like any of the bags we have already received. What products did you get this month? Let me know down in the comments!

It is that time again! This hot pink mailer showed up today. I am always so excited when it does. Ipsy is my favorite beauty subscription that I receive. For $10 a month, you cannot beat the value of what you get. I usually enjoy being surprised but I did catch wind of some spoilers this month, and I have a feeling this month’s bag is going to be a good one!

Let’s see what I got:

img_7470

Hits:

Luna Cosmetics Highlighter in “Calypso”:

I am OBSESSED with this highlighter. First off, highlighters are my favorite thing on planet earth right now. I would apply them all over my body if I could. This product in particular is a fantastic size for a sample, it will take me forever to get through it. I would not be surprised if this was a full size. The pigmentation is great, and since it is a baked product if I was to apply it wet it would be even stronger. I also love supporting smaller brands, which Luna cosmetics is!

img_7473img_7474

NYX Professional Makeup Butter™ Lipstick in “Ripe Berry”:

Another total hit! It is a full size lipstick, by a brand I already know I adore. The shade is gorgeous, it reminds me of raspberries, so the name “ripe berry” is oh so fitting. I love NYX “Butter” lip products. This lipstick is so comfortable on the lips and since it is a darker shade it stains the lips and lasts for hours after the hydration wears off. Very pleased with adding this product to my collection.

Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514:

Another full size product! I have received a few other Luxie brushes in my Ipsy bags and I must say they are becoming some of my favorites. They are so soft, you can’t even imagine. They are made with synthetic hairs, meaning it will pick up a great deal of pigment. Oh, and this one is just so pretty! Pink and rose gold, what could be better? Can’t wait to make this my new blush brush.

Biobelle #StayGorgeous and #Iwokeuplikethis Sheet Masks

Two sheet masks?! I am so excited. The full size count is up to 3 now, maybe 4. Yes, I could be peeved considering I received two sheet masks in my bag last month. But since sheet masks are my favorite skin care products at the moment, I am not peeved at all. I have heard good things about this brand, so I am excited to try these bad boys. The packaging is adorable too! Who doesn’t want to use something called “I Woke Up Like This?!”

Misses:

Elizabeth Mott “Whatup Beaches” Matte Bronzer:

Okay, they do get points for the hilarious product name, I will give them that. However, this is a miss for a few reasons. First, I got a tiny bronzer sample in my bag last month. Second, the cheap plastic packaging just makes me want to get rid of this. You can pop the pan out to put into a magnetic palette if you have one (which I don’t right now). However, since the product is so small, good luck getting a brush in. I will have to re-purpose this as an eyeshadow,  because it would be a great crease color. For a bronzer sample though, this is a miss.

I am so happy with the products I received this time. This is one of the best bags I have ever gotten! I was let down by the makeup bag itself though. Yes I realize not everything in February needs to be pink and heart-shaped, but denim? Really?

Overall I am so pleased with Ipsy this time around!

What did you get this month? I would love to know!
